Hail Storms – AC Repair and Air Conditioner Replacement

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

With recent storms, you may have noticed that your outdoor AC equipment is damaged or dented due to the hail storms that passed through the DFW metro area. If you need to make a claim on your home or building owners insurance, it is important to find out as soon as possible. Call Golden Air Conditioning at 817-435-4300 to see if you need to repair or replace your Air Conditioner.

Q: Why does my insurance company tell me the coil can be repaired or the damage is just cosmetic?

A: Insurance companies may tell you this to pay out less money. In reality, a damaged coil can greatly affect the efficiency of the equipment, which in turn can cause high utility bills for as long as you own the equipment and an increased chance of more repair bills to your heating and air conditioning system over time. With the size of hail that hit you may have hail damage to your AC coils. Due to federal government mandates set in 2007 all out door and indoor coils must match up to provide a 13 SEER or better, so if your insurance company provides you with new equipment it will likely be an upgrade to a more efficient AC and heating system than you currently have.

Quick Air Conditioner Maintenance Tips from Golden Air Conditioning

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

Most of the time, we’re tempted to forget about our air conditioner after it’s installed and set up. But just like any other machine, it needs regular maintenance too. Make sure to change your filters every 3 months. Some models come with re-useable filters. If so, simply wash off the dust and debris with soap and lukewarm water and let it dry.

Don’t forget to regularly clean the exterior of your AC unit with a good hosing from your garden hose especially if you have any Cottonwood trees in your neighborhood. Finally, don’t forget to have your air conditioner inspected by a professional every two years to avoid any unnecessary AC repair. Golden Air Conditioning has reliable and experienced technicians who can do this for you.
